HORCHATA MILK - The Horchata We Serve in the Shop!

Homemade | Creamy | Gluten-Free Option

This is the exact recipe we use in the shop! It’s creamy, refreshing, and perfectly spiced—just the way our customers love it. We add a splash of heavy cream for extra richness (optional, but we highly recommend it!). Bonus: it’s naturally gluten-free!

🛒 Ingredients Needed:

  • 1 cup uncooked WHITE RICE 🍙
  • 2 ½ TBSP CINNAMON
  • 3 cups WATER 💧
  • ¼ cup + 2 TBSP HEAVY CREAM(optional but recommended) 🥛
  • 1 ½ tsp VANILLA
  • 2 ¼ cups WHOLE MILK
  • 2 cans SWEETENED CONDENSED MILK

🥄 STEP 1: Make the Rice Base

Ingredients:

  • 1 cup uncooked WHITE RICE 🍙
  • 2 ½ TBSP CINNAMON
  • 3 cups WATER 💧

Instructions:

  1. In a blender, combine rice, cinnamon, and water.
➤ Blend for 1 minute until the rice is finely ground.
  2. Pour the mixture into a container with a lid (at least 1-quart size).
  3. Let it sit at room temperature for at least 3 hours to infuse.

🥛 STEP 2: Add Milks & Flavor

After soaking:
Strain the rice mixture using a coffee bag, nut milk bag, or fine mesh strainer into a clean container (about 3-quart size). Discard the rice solids.

Add:

  • ¼ cup + 2 TBSP HEAVY CREAM(optional but recommended) 🥛
  • 1 ½ tsp VANILLA
  • 2 ¼ cups WHOLE MILK
  • 2 cans SWEETENED CONDENSED MILK

Instructions:
Whisk everything into the strained rice water until fully combined and smooth.

🧊 Final Steps:

  • Pour your horchata into a clean milk jug or jar.

  • Refrigerate.

  • 🔁 Shake well before each use—you shouldn’t see any cinnamon settled at the bottom!

💡 Tip:

This horchata is delicious on its own or mixed with fresh strawberries & whip cream!
Or cold brew for a creamy cinnamon coffee!
